+ add your ownTo me, roller derby looks awful rough, but maybe that is just a show for the fans.
I remember learning to skate as a kid, I was on the floor more of the time than on my feet. LOL.
When my husband and I first saw Roller Derby in person, he said "You've missed your calling. It's too bad they didn't have this 20 years ago." I agree. It really looks like fun, but my old joints cannot take the pounding anymore. :-(
LOL I love the names of these groups!
Here in Seattle we have have our beloved RAT CITY ROLLERS, and they kick butt :-))

Roller Derby is so much fun! I'm just starting, but I'm already having a blast.
It's not so much about violence, but athleticism, strategy, stamina... yeah, you do take a few "hits" here and there, it's part of the game, but punching, pushing, hitting is not allowed. It's a real sport, unlike the fake, staged version of the 70s. And it's for all ages. Most players are in their mid-30s, and they're moms, teachers (even yoga instructors!), you name it -- people from all walks of life! I love it!
