Salty Sage Tooth Whitener

If you drink coffee or tea, or eat certain foods, chances are your teeth are stained and discolored. But commercial tooth-whitening strips are full of chemicals. Try this simple formula instead: it will help you get your teeth pearly white again. It also has antibacterial properties and a gentle abrasive action to make your teeth feel squeaky clean.

Here is the wise and simple formula for whiter, brighter teeth:

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons dried sage leaves
2 tablespoons sea salt

1. Preheat oven to 250F. Using a spice grinder or a mortar and pestle, grind the salt and sage together.

2. Spread mixture evenly on a baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Allow to cool, then stir to blend.

3. Scoop some of the mixture onto your toothbrush and brush vigorously.

4. Rinse thoroughly.

I bet'cha the reason for the ingredient of sea-salt is because of all the natural minerals and NO iodine! I have no iodine salt in my home, just a high-grade Himalayan Sea Salt...I'll try this, as I have not used toothpaste for over 40 years, and just use baking soda and peroxide. I have'nt had any cavaties, and have had the dentist take out my high school mercury fillings (3).

I heard somewhere it was not a good idea to heat or burn salt as it becomes toxic. Is this true?

Hermine B.

that's a great idea. I would be interested in seeing a product not salt based though -any idea?

Sounds like a great idea. I wonder if it will work on dentures. I use baking soda now.Thank you for all your wonderful ideas.

Have been using Crest White Strips...will try these natural alternatives. I'm alway looking for natural ways of doing everything. That's one of the reasons I love Care2!!

I never even saw the ad (Crest)until I read the other comments, then I had to look for it. I go straight for the article. Looking forward to trying the Native American 'recipe.' I'll also forward this to my dentist.
