Simple Sugar Scrub Formula

Adapted from The Seasonal Detox Diet, by Carrie L’Esperance (Inner Traditions, 2002).

This super-simple formula has been softening and nourishing skin for centuries.

It only calls for two ingredients, and the results will gently exfoliate dead skin cells, improve skin clarity and softness, and stimulate your glandular system.

You will glow from top to toe–a great way to get ready for the holidays!

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup sugar
Enough cold-pressed oil (olive, wheat germ, peanut, corn, or sunflower) to dampen the mixture

Gently massage this exfoliating scrub all over your body and face before you shower with a light soaping and rinse. Repeat once or twice a month.

Patricia, Try using superfine sugar. I get mine at a health food store and it's what I use in the spa. My clients love it and it's a log more gentle than regular granular sugar. I hope you like it.

I find using only sugar is a bit rough on my face so I mix about half sugar and half corn starch then add oil and/or glycerin and sometimes aloe vera gel and whatever essential oil I am in the mood for. It works great for me. For my body I use a lot less corn starch.
