Keeping our skin soft and smooth in winter can be a real challenge when the air is cold and the heat in our homes makes the air even drier than usual. But this amazingly simple formula from Care2’s Annie Bond is a fabulous emollient, hydrator, and healer for the skin. Annie’s family and friends praise it highly, and she says that daily use for four months made her age spots disappear.
It’s also wonderfully simple to make, with only two ingredients. Here is this terrific formula:
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup aloe vera gel
1/8 cup vegetable glycerin
Combine the ingredients, stirring well to combine, and store in a glass jar with a screw top. (The formula will keep for about 4 months.)
To use, apply a dab to clean, damp skin and gently massage it in.
Makes about 5/8 cup.

+ add your ownDan - I would try your local organic grocery or natural foods store. You can also use it to emulsify soap - there are many simple recipes on the web for turning bar soap into liquid soap - I've seen but not tried yet.
thanks for the article
thank you.

Thank you very much!
I know where to obtain aloe vera gel, but do you know where to find high quality vegetable glycerin? Thanks for the info, useful article.
I use aloe vera gel that is bottled and sold as a moisturizer and sunscreen. It works well for me.
As I am maturing in age, I am very aware of how my skin looks. So whenever, I feel that my skin is dry and itching, I use your recipe for the soft and silky moisturizer formula. Have made several decorated jars and them to friends with the recipe attached. So far no one has ever complained. We are all in our 60's and our complexion is silky smooth. Thanks!
