Soft and Silky Moisturizer Formula

Inspired by Better Basics for the Home, by Annie B. Bond (Three Rivers Press, 1999).

Keeping our skin soft and smooth in winter can be a real challenge when the air is cold and the heat in our homes makes the air even drier than usual. But this amazingly simple formula from Care2’s Annie Bond is a fabulous emollient, hydrator, and healer for the skin. Annie’s family and friends praise it highly, and she says that daily use for four months made her age spots disappear.

It’s also wonderfully simple to make, with only two ingredients. Here is this terrific formula:

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup aloe vera gel
1/8 cup vegetable glycerin

Combine the ingredients, stirring well to combine, and store in a glass jar with a screw top. (The formula will keep for about 4 months.)

To use, apply a dab to clean, damp skin and gently massage it in.

Makes about 5/8 cup.

Georges Aloe is one of the top brands you can purchase with no added preservatives.
It can be purchased online at either vitimin shoppe or puritans pride , possibly vitimin world. It is usually availible at any good health food store. You can also purchase huge aloe plant leaves/stalks at whole foods store.
hope this helps! :)

I would love a recipe for a great homemade face mask!

DOES ANYONE HAVE RECIPES FOR HOME MADE FACE MASKS?

WHERE DO YOU GET VEGATABLE GLYCERIN?

Paula Englert

You can scrape the leaves but you can also buy avoe vera gel at a natural food's store. It comes in a bottle. A lot easier than all that scraping.

Sharon Haag

Please tell me if I get the aloe vera gel by scraping it from the inside of a plant's leaf. This is just what I am looking for.
