Special Green Car Dude Report: Latest News from Detroit Auto Show

Listen, laugh & learn with the Green Divas (and Green Dude Scott) anytime - Podcast here!

Our favorite green car dude/expert, John Voelcker, Sr. Editor High Gear Media and GreenCarReports.com spent half the show with us, which still wasn’t enough time! He was reporting on the latest news from Detroit relevant to greener car technology and we were surprised to hear that one of the breakout introductions – as far as he and many of the other journalists were concerned – was the new lineup of Ford Fusions, which includes 2 eco-efficient gas engines, a hybrid and a hybrid-plugin/electric. His description of this car was that it could be the product of a one-night-stand between an Audi A7 and an Aston Martin, which got our attention.

There are a couple more lower-priced, hybrid and electric options coming out, as well as more traditional gas engine cars with higher fuel efficiency without compromising power – all quite encouraging.

He also debunked the media hype about Chevy Volts bursting into flames and editorialized from his pretty insightful perspective about how electric cars are caught in the political crossfire. He makes a good case, but we’ll leave political debating to the pros for now.

The Sleeping Naked is Green segment: Find a Green Real Estate Agent launched a conversation about what exactly is a ‘green’ real estate agent, why would we want one and how do we find one! Listen to this week’s 5-min segment on green real estate.

We also announced the winner of last week’s Eco Friendly Printer KNOW YOUR GREEN Quiz - Doug Farquhar, who won organic T-shirts and $50! This week’s Eco Friendly Printer KNOW YOUR GREEN Quiz will be about greenhouse gas emissions and what sector is the biggest offender. Please go to our facebook page and find this week’s quiz and play to win!

Didn't have time to listen to all of this, but I took a gander at the website and saw that Mitsubishi was nowhere to be found. How sad, considering that their new "i" is ranked as the best electric car with the highest MPG equivalency. *sigh* leave it to Mitsu and their bad advertising. Excellent vehicles that get very little recognition

Why does greener mean more expensive? The corporations are still ripping off the public, just because of trends.
