Just as perfect at a holiday party as it is on a dreary winter afternoon, this mulled cider could not be easier to make. Add a little dark rum to taste if you like. Though this method uses the power of the stovetop, using an electric slow cooker is a great way to make it, too. That way, the cider will be warm all evening.
- 2 Quarts of good-quality apple cider
- Peel of one orange
- Peel of one lemon
- 2 Cinnamon sticks
- 2 Whole star anise (optional)
- 1 Teaspoon whole allspice berries
- 1 Teaspoon whole cloves
1. Bring all ingredients to a boil in a large saucepan. Remove from heat and cover. Let cider steep for 30 minutes-4 hours before serving.
