The Spiritual Work of Self-Love

The Spiritual Work of Self-Love

The only eternal relationship anyone ever has is with the higher Self. The real spiritual work is to learn self-love. The mind can be trained into self-love by being shown, over and over, that the higher Self is a safe haven of love and protection. It is kind of a circular process:

The higher Self cannot protect you until you seek its security; this process begins when you devote time and energy to self-love. Self-love grows when you refuse to follow the impulses of anger and fear, trust that the universe is on your side, form your desires from the heart and watch the higher Self carry them out, believe that you are enough in and of yourself, heed the tenderness and sweetness of your love for others, put your attention on positive energies in every situation, honor your own needs without having to seek outside approval, and cultivate the peace of inner silence.

important to remember how totally different the ego self is to the higher self. The ego self is false and higher self is truth. Meditate! Any thoughts?

Inner peace comes from all sources, from whichever source one chooses. It does not have to be religion but comes from kindness to all, including yourself. The source of your inner peace is up to you as long as it does not inflict harm on others or yourself.

Remember how you show kindness and compassion to others and how your patience with others is often far more than what you show for yourself. Applying what you show others to yourself if you are a kind person is indeed a treasured gift.

Andy K. sorry, I'm confused. Where is the quote in the bible that said Jesus said to his disciples to hate themselves? Enlighten me, please.

I like the way Evangelist Joel Osteen opens his sermons: "I am the child of the Most High God". We must learn to love and respect ourselves because we all are in large part spiritual beings.

Self love is indeed the key. But only if we understand what love is. Otherwise we're in danger of becoming only selfish.

Jesus Christ taught that in order to be one of His disciples you had to hate yourself. The problem with psychopaths is that they love themselves too much. Your going in the wrong direction Deepak.
