It’s no secret that Ian Somerhalder comes off like a superhero. In addition to his amazing acting abilities on The Vampire Diaries, Somerhalder is also a dedicated animal activist. I could go on for days listing his accomplishments, but of course I don’t have the time and I’m here only to discuss his new project, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation Animal Sanctuary.
Recently, Somerhalder has reached out to his fans and Twitter followers about the new project and how he needs everyone’s help. “Doing major ISF Animal Sanctuary/Farm planning on plane. Going to be amazing but really really need your help! Pls go 2 http://www.isfoundation.com/campaign/isf-a … [sic],” the actor tweeted.
He and his organization need all the help they can get for this special project. So what is the ISF Animal Sanctuary? It’s not your ordinary venture. Based in Somerhalder’s home state of Louisiana, the sanctuary is a safe haven for neglected animals and a place to transform human bullies. It’s a home for animals to show their love and where bullies can learn how to show compassion and “work through their issues.”
The site says, “We will bring the bruised together as a family to learn just how unique — and just very the same — we all are…and how if we unite…we are NOT the outcasted, we ARE the UNSTOPPABLE.”
The nontraditional sanctuary sounds great, but Somerhalder is now revealing he’s worried he’ll lose the land as it seems right now ISF doesn’t have enough funds. He shared on his Twitter page, “Thank you so so much. Will set volunteer programs soon-youll love this place but the clock is ticking&I’m afraid I’ll loose the land soon. [sic]”
A few days prior he also tweeted how important this is to him, “Please help me do this.Lets help our youth not bully each other to death&stop sick peeps from hurting another animal.A little goes along way. [sic]”
All Somerhalder and ISF ask for is a small donation to get the project going. According to the organization, they need $5 million to build and officially bring the animal sanctuary to life.
If you’re willing to lend a helping hand, be sure to visit ISF and make a donation. Somerhalder will truly appreciate it, as will the animals and bullies looking to add compassion back into their lives.

+ add your ownKimsu S ........ sounds very generous of you (offering to donate a % of book price) but, if we don't buy the book, we'll have more to donate direct to ISF ..... isn't that better logic ????
God bless him!
Interesting.
I really hope it works out.
I agree, Michelle, many actors earn a fortune, he should ask them to help.
very sad
He needs to reach out to his wealthy Hollywood cohorts. That, and submit some grants for additional help.
The average person out there is either holding tight to their money and not letting go, or stretched so thin they are only willing to donate to well-established organizations.
I for one receive HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of solicitations from welfare groups needing money. I can only give so much; my income is limited.
It sounds like a great idea, however, if they can't even afford the land, I would question the long term outlook for this project.
thanks for sharing hope it all works out! :)
For everyone who purchases the book "House for Sale" by Cheynne Holmes Dean and Kimsu Holmes Sutton we WILL give a donation to the ISF together we can make a difference one animal at a time.
