Suffering Loneliness or Loss? Try a Heart Meditation

The ache of loss is difficult to bear, and often the worst part is the fear that nothing exists behind the ache except a void. Know that emptiness is an illusion. No matter how much you have suffered, your soul sees you as whole.
Affirm today that you share this vision and have the intention to allow the light of spirit to come in and fill any voids it may find. To aid in this repair, close your eyes and see white light surrounding you like a bubble or cocoon. Visualize the light filling the entire space within you, seeking out rifts, tears, holes, and gaps. Ask for these to be completely filled with light.
One of the worst parts of suffering a great loss is the feeling of utter isolation. The problem of loneliness, which exists for countless people, requires deeper healing than simply seeking out company. Loneliness can happen in a crowd and may feel most intense when you find yourself alone on a packed city street.
As a child it was easier to cure loneliness, because the presence of a parent was enough to offer reassurance. As an adult, loneliness becomes more existential – it feels as if you have been abandoned, yet you cannot say by whom.
Invite spirit in with a meditation on the heart. Sit quietly for a moment, placing your attention on your heart, at the center of your chest under the breastbone. When you are settled, repeat the word “peace” silently, and see its influence radiating out from your body in all directions. Do this three times, and then say the word “happiness” the same way. Repeat three times, then go on to “harmony,” “laughter,” and “love.”
Sit quietly for a few minutes after each session with eyes closed and simply appreciate the simplicity of quiet awareness. End it by sitting quietly and asking to be allowed into the refuge of your heart. Feel your heart as a soft, warm enclosure; settle there with your attention, and rest as long as you wish. If you repeat this technique enough times, you will find that the presence of spirit is very real and accessible.

add your comment »I'm never lonely. I have a dog who is the love of my life. She is warm, cuddly, funny, adventurous, kind--everything you could ever want. Sometimes she looks at me with this look that just MELTS my heart. I am never mad at her, she is nevr mad at me. She never hits me, yells at me or makes stupid demands upon me after being mean. She is pure and unconditional love. I hope she and I "go" at the same time because there is nobody else I would miss besides her. I have yet to meet anybody I feel like this about. Perhaps I met one person I thought was worth their weight in Gold but not in this sort of way.

Love is the common nature of being, if the common nature of order was the common nature of life. Fear is the mind killer, to not appreciate the significance of fear to the appropriation of our common responses in its wake, to the elimination of its potential to deviate from the potential of love. The heart is a symbolic interpretation of the sub conscious brain, whilst, in an existential state of conscious awareness we respond to the instinctive nature of our common nature leading to crime, when, we self realize as human components of a common order and duality between existence and life, the conscious brain and the sub-conscious brain defining the meaning of self have become united to the individual perspectives on the meaning of love, defining order to the common nature of groups, outside the common nature of trajectory all groups share. Hence, the meaning of freedom is the activation of minds to become self aware to both particular and universal parallels of equality common to life, in this way a global meditation become a reality of one world and the attributes of lonliness, suffering and loss become reduced across the board.

Why is it that when someone speaks of spirit, a religious argument ensues? There is one contradiction about religion. It seems to be about who is right and who is wrong.
The second contradiction is that Jesus would NEVER have a gold plated church or a church of any kind.
These articles are about the human spirit. Not about Religion.
Religious arguments are tiresome. It's what creates most of the wars on the planet.
Just please, think about your own spirits. See about yourselves, do not use these articles as opportunities for arguments.
If you cannot relate to the article above, please don't foist the "bible" on the rest of us.

Janine, that's the key - love. Whatever the religion. Love is inclusive not exclusive. You don't have to love everything people say or do but we love them for who and what they are warts and all. Your little lower self notices differences but your Higher Self loves and knows nothing but love.
I think it is sort of like holding a conversation with someone and yet at the same time you are aware of stuff going on around you. While you notice the differences your heart is anchored in Love. :)

Dear Mr. Murrah; Are you in the predicament of being scapegoat, the one in town in the days of yore that they pinned stuff on & chased with a stick? lol (The 1st Christian scapegoat was nailed to a cross.) Watch Miracle on 34th Street. They say Mr. Kringle is Santa cause the post office delivers to him. The Post Office & phone book separate religions, not me. When I sit in Radio City Music Hall watching the nativity scene and listen to the story of Jesus, the man who never owned a home, was married, etc. I am moved. Imagine it today. I am suggesting you didn't know my religion. I felt hurt how you represented Christians. No worries brother. I know some Christians that with a blink of an eye can create such peace, love & tranquility it'd blow your mind. Happens rarely. They'd not incite bad feelings,so rare & pure. I was raised by nuns, went to church daily 2 years besides the other 8 yrs of Sundays when I was a child; I met ONE true christian woman in my life personally. She was the closest person to Mary, Mother of God. Thinking of her brings me peace. I can't see God, just the good people here. Did I mention my brother was in seminary? My point is this. They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love. Respect is what is needed in a world that has many religions. Respect the others, God made everyone, coexist. Don't forget, Jesus was a JEW. So are friends of mine who got outta Auschwitz alive. Peace out brother.

Dixon - Life is full of contradictions and inconsistencies. Life is not perfect so why are you expecting that everyone else should be? As Brenda was eluding too; there are many contradictions and inconsistencies in the bible; not to mention that they leave out 10 years of Jesus' life, since they don't want you to know what he did or learned during those year, it would mess up their nice story. In order to find your real truth you need to pull your head of the book and look around you. The bible is good starting place; but it does not end there. Review the teachings of the other great Bhodisatvas and then discover how you fit into this eternal world.

Brenda, First, please point out any contradictions that you know of in the Bible. I am not aware of any.
We cannot do anything in this world that does not involve a belief system from eating to walking around to turning on the TV. We cannot even talk to each other without belief systems.
Chistianity's relationship is accepting what Jesus has done for us by dying on the cross and rising after three days. When we accept that, God promises eternal life with Him.

I'm just wondering about all the contradictions in the Bible. That always did puzzle me.
Dixon tell me more about this "relationship" (with Jesus I am assuming). Are you saying it does not envovle belief systems of any kind?
