Kissing my scratchy-bearded sweetheart, along with subzero windchills, had left my skin really flaky and dry. A sugar-based body-scrub sample recently arrived that sounded great–until I found out it was loaded with parabens and artificial dyes. So here is a non-toxic, super-easy formula to use instead. It costs next to nothing to make, it’s completely safe–and it works! I love how it tastes, and how soft and smooth my face feels now.
1/2 cup organic sugar
Just enough cold-pressed oil to dampen the mixture (I use olive oil, but you can also try wheat germ, peanut, corn, or sunflower oil)
A few drops of flavoring, optional (pure vanilla extract is my favorite, but you can use peppermint or lemon or whatever takes your fancy)
1. I like to massage this mixture into my face while I sit in the tub. You can also use it all over before you shower.
2. Rinse well after using.
