Thanksgiving Recipe Ideas

Thanksgiving Recipe Ideas

Traditional Thanksgiving staples—mashed potatoes, your grandmother’s stuffing recipe you’ve been making for years—are great, but sometimes you want to shake things up a bit. If you’re looking to add some new dishes to your holiday table, consider these unique Thanksgiving recipe ideas.

1. Ginger-Glazed Parsnips

Parsnips are a wonderful, fiber-rich root vegetable that many people forget about. They have a sweet and nutty flavor. Learn more about this veggie and find a recipe for Ginger-Glazed Parsnips in Parsnips Back on the Plate.

2. Grilled Pumpkin with Rosemary and Sea Salt

Pumpkin doesn’t have to be left just to pies during Thanksgiving. Grilled pumpkin is oh-so-good, as grilling brings out the sugars and flavors of the pumpkin. While your oven is busy baking many other dishes, why not utilize the grill to make this simple side?

3. Baked Apple Cuplets

Try this super-easy recipe for baked apple cutlets if you’re looking for a new dessert to go alongside your pies. These cuplets are oozing with cinnamon apple goodness, and kids will love them.

4. Vegan Pumpkin Pecan Pie

If you or some of your holiday guests are vegan, I have the perfect dessert for you. This recipe for Pumpkin Pecan Pie calls for silken tofu in the filling—and you’ll be thankful you tried it when you taste the silky, decadent flavor of this pie. Happy holidays, everyone! I hope you have much to be thankful for this year.

I usually do add parsnips with the mashed potatoes. The vegan pumpkin-pecan pie sounds excellent.

Canadian Thanksgiving was ages ago, but I will try some of these recipes for Christmas. I am not a huge parsnip fan, but the recipe does sound good.
