Anti-Arthritis Dog Stew

Anti-Arthritis Dog Stew

“I believe acupuncture is the number one method for arthritis. Number two is homeopathy. … Years ago I learned about a special arthritis diet…many animals improve on this diet alone.”—A. Greig Howie, DVM

The Antiarthritis Diet
2 cups brown rice
2 cups barley (pearls)
1 cup lentils
2 cups carrots
1 cup celery
1/2 cup parsley
2 cups spinach

I've used this recipe with and without the meat, and my dogs have loved it. I've even eaten it myself, though it's a bit bland for human tastes!

If you don't want your dog having diarrea, then skip the lentils.

Given that the first two options mentioned have no scientific basis and no evidence that they work in properly controlled trials, I find it hard to believe that the third will be any more effective if subjected to proper scrutiny but some evidence that isn't annecdotal would be interesting.
