The Context for a Conscious Evolution

A Call to Conscious Evolution: Our Moment of Choice
IF NOT US, WHO? IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
Our economy is in crisis, wars are continuing to add to their deadly toll, and the balance of world power is shifting dramatically. Meanwhile, trust in government is at a historic low. Are we entering an era of chaos and decline, or are we poised to jump to a higher order?
TODAY’S MOUNTING WORLD PROBLEMS ARE MERELY SYMPTOMS
of a fractured, dualistic way of thinking (us vs. them, human vs. nature, win/lose) that is dangerously out of touch with the acute interdependence, wholeness, and unity in diversity of all that lives. Looking outward but not inward, reacting to external symptoms but not the root cause, we can’t see why our world is out of balance. No wonder! As Einstein famously said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
“Throughout history, the really fundamental changes in societies have come about not from dictates of governments and the results of battles but through vast numbers of people changing their minds. By deliberately changing the internal image of reality, people can change the world.”(Willis Harman, Global Mind Change: The Promise of the 21st Century)
Only such a shift in our shared field of consciousness, a collective waking up to our real human potential, will put us on the path to a life-enhancing future. But how can such a shift occur? Will it happen only after a fatal tipping point has been reached, with nothing to break our fall, or can we now intentionally choose to wake up to our shared responsibility for our future?
Signing the Call to Conscious Evolution: Our Moment of Choice may seem to you like a small, merely symbolic action. Yet even a single butterfly moving its wings can, according to Chaos Theory, cause a ripple effect large enough to change global weather patterns forever. Consciousness, similarly, is a unified field that can shift dramatically when the spontaneous emergence of new possibility captures increasing attention. Witness the sudden, over-night collapse of the Soviet system of communism when the real possibility of freedom took hold in people’s minds.
As you join in signing this historic document, and as you go on to initiate conversations about our collective future as this document invites, you can be confident that your voice will be heard and your profound influence powerfully felt
This Call to Conscious Evolution: Our Moment of Choice was jointly issued by thirty-eight thought leaders and change agents whose names you will find listed below. They share a global, long-range perspective and a deep faith in our combined creative capacities to shape our own destiny. The future, in their view, is not what “happens to us” but rather what we can NOW imagine - actually see, taste, and feel - as possible and then go forward to create through our actions. This group of individuals who met to address the global prospects for evolutionary leadership on July 26 of this year at the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, CA were invited by the Chopra Foundation, Source of Synergy Foundation, and Association for Global New Thought. Their legitimacy however comes from a universal mandate that empowers us all: If not us, who? If not now, when?
These collective thought leaders know that the way we create meaning and purpose in our lives is through the narratives we tell about ourselves, where we’ve come from, what we aim for and why - and if we don’t like the way it’s reading now, we can change our story. This is a radical view of human freedom at a time that many fear our fate has already been sealed.
The butterfly, for which the global ripple effect is named, is a potent symbol of transformation. While mere change can mean becoming an ever bigger caterpillar, transformation is fundamentally different. The caterpillar inside its cocoon dissolves into a liquid carrying imaginal cells that construct an entirely new kind of creature with great beauty and the power of flight. The human imagination has a similar power - to perceive entirely new possibilities in our present conditions and to bring those possibilities into being. That is why Einstein also reasoned, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”
Signing the Call to Conscious Evolution: Our Moment of Choice signifies that you are ready to begin encircling our world, as its old forms are dissolving, with fresh imagining of what is possible, to share this sense of possibility with as many others as you can, and to work with them to consciously create with guided action a peaceful, just, harmonious and vibrantly beautiful world that reflects in every way the true nobility of our common humanity. The time has come.

My co-workers are neither in chaos nor decline, they work hard and carry on as best they can to build their families and put their children to school. The learners I have worked with, who have physical disabilities, who are homeless, who didnt have the luxury of private education or a caring teacher, people who cannot afford spinach, broccoli, salmon, trout, gluten-free bread, bottled water, computers, laptops, who cannot afford to go to the movies, or go the beach on summer or to the alps in winter, or to protest marches, people who share their pencils and their cell phones with their co-learners, people who are quick to give you advise when they notice youre tired or a bit down, people who are quick to thank you for giving them 5 minutes of your precious-professional degree time and put it in writing in a thank you-for-changing-my-life card. They are neither in chaos nor in decline; they are generous, conscientious, intelligent and good hearted people who, for one reason or another, have not made it as we so call that which fills our egos.

The corrupt politician, the banker bathing in greed and drying his clothes in golden towels is in chaos and decline; the royal families of 2 or 3 who live in a 150 room palace are in chaos and decline. Their plans didnt work and were paying for it. It is egotistical and uncharitable, insensitive and insulting to say or even ask that the whole world is in an era of chaos or decline.
are we poised to jump to a higher order?
Jump where? To whose order? This question assumes again that the entire population of the planet has never done anything about it. It also implies, as it does in fact in the whole article, that the current civilization is so enormously enlightened, and lets be honest and not cynical, its not. There have been individuals in the past who have taught us a lesson and many who are very quick to turn those lessons into policy and economic models.
We are and always have been in a higher order, the order of disagreeing and questioning our selves and our environments, as I am doing it right now. If history lessons had focused on those few enlightened individuals more often instead of forcing us to just remember dates, it would be already a better world for all of us.

Emperors, Conquerors.
Wars are continuing to add to their deadly toll
There are no wars. There is two invasions at the moment, one in Irak and the other in Afghanistan. The deal toll keeps raising for the locals, Google it and youll be shocked. China is not at war. Japan is not at war. Russia is not at war. Norway is not at war. Sweden is not at war. Argentina is not at war. Chile is not t war. Peru is not at war. Peru is not at war. Brazil is not at war. Argentina and Chile signed a non-aggression treaty in the 80s, with the consent of its people. Peru and Chile signed a non-aggression treaty as well a long time ago. Mexico is not at war. Venezuela is not at war. Cuba is not at war. Although it keeps being provoked, unsuccessfully. Taiwan is not war. Turkey is not at war. Greece is not at war./ South Africa is not at war, etc, etc, etc.
There are no wars, only the one signed by self-appointed world leaders, ruling the lives of billions. Does anyone remember the marches in London before the invasion of Iraq? UK population is 65million, how many did vote for invasion?

Are we entering an era of chaos and decline?
This is the typical evangelistic-preaching-war mongering-scare mongering-pocket filling-greed driven semantics of those of ALWAYS get rich in times of despair. And it is, again, a factor the repeats throughout history.
The era of chaos and decline again comes from the top and falls upon us like excrement on the pot, guess whos the pot. Thats right. But soon banks will come back with new names and new philosophies, courtesy of Mr Tax Payer. My neighbours are neither in chaos nor decline. They throw parties for their childrens birthdays. My wife in neither chaos nor decline. We just celebrated 12 years of marriage together; she is a generous, intelligent human being full of integrity. My nephews are neither in chaos nor decline; they are both good willing young men in their 20s who volunteer their time on a regular basis within their communities. My sister is neither in chaos nor decline; she works 50 hours a week for a pittance and still finds the time to share with her husband and their sons. My brothers are not in decline, they are hard working, law abiding, and tax paying individuals. My mother in law is not in decline, she volunteers her time for the Pensioners Hall, for the Air Ambulance, for the local Church, for the family.

The balance of world power has never shifted, ask any homeless in New York, London, Sao Paulo, Delhi, Beijing, Hong-Kong, Buenos Aires. Go ask my dad, living on a £120 a month pension. Go ask the employees of food processing factories in the UK, producing for the gain of McDonalds. Go and ask the cattle farmers in Brazil, having to burn their land so they cam make cheap money so Starbucks can sponsor million of dollars in movies.
Perhaps the only way in which the power is shifting is in that is getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
Trust in government is at a historic low
Many countries do not and never have trusted their governments. Deluded politicians keep thinking they represent their people. Most countries in the world function quite well under corruption and have been since history began being written. Only the naïve can believe that banks are good thing for the economy, go and have a look at the history of the Federal Reserve and try and find out anything legal about their right to print money. Only the naïve can believe that the current economic climate is part a natural cycle, as the experts keep calling it. Only he naïve can believe that governments have historically cared for what their people think. Lets not forget that the only reason that governments emerged as such is because of the sheer population of any given group of people. To understand that, Google history of Na

The purpose of war is to remain, not to win or lose.
The balance of world power is shifting dramatically
No its not. Its always been the same. The few exploiting the many. The many working for the few. The few getting rich on account of the many. 20 people deciding the future of 6 billion people on the planet. Thats not shifting of power, that is the quintessential same old shit, different flies. Lets take a very quick look at history. Egyptians build their pyramids with millions of slaves from invaded communities. And lets pause here for a second.
Everyone in the planet marvels at the magnificence of these constructions; the perfection of their architecture. Who build them? Salaried fathers and mothers? With pensions? With health Care? With employment tribunals? With unions? Could they have refused to work over, say, 80 hours a week? Did their children enjoy the time with their parents or did they also have to go and work with their parents? How many children saw their parent die of exhaustion in front of their very own eyes?
And what about the great wall of China? or the Aztec pyramids or the Apian way, or the Adrian wall? Or the Taj Mahal? Please see the questions above and feel free to add your own. I am purposely avoiding to mention more recent of the so called great civilizations; the British empire, the Spanish empire, the French empire, the Inca empire, the USSR, the

A Call to Conscious Evolution: Our Moment of Choice
IF NOT US, WHO? IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
Our economy is in crisis
The phrase above is obviously self denominating. Whose economy? Western economy of course, lead by the US banking, financial and insurance business in the hands of the usual few, represented in the scare-mongering parliaments worldwide. The phrase fails to imply greed, the mother of all that destroys freedom; human and animal (my apologies to mothers; I had to refer to a historical viewpoint).
Polands economy is not in crisis because their banking and financial systems do differ from most European systems, hey invest in tangible assets. Their GDP growth is not worse than it was 10 years ago. Their citizen are returning to Poland, to contribute and add to their wealth; human resource at its best.
Brazils economy keeps reporting increase growth rate, albeit on account of the planets lungs. Chiles economy reports growth again, although slower. Their citizens are no better off that 1990 or indeed 1983 at the height of dictatorship.
In short? No, there is no worldwide economic crisis. There is simply evidence that corruption imploded and, as usual, the tax payer has to fit the bill. As its ever been, since the so-called great civilization; someone always pays tribute to the Pharos, Kings, E

Let us focus the flow and freedom of our beauty in our actions and in our thoughts, and move away from superficial appearances.
People have good reasons for the bad choices they make. We us all work together to find those reasons and play our part in resolving them.
