The soul is the origin of consciousness. The fact that it is distorted in popular religion and dismissed by science is a matter of politics, not a matter of proof. The way of peace aims for the very heart of reality.
What is true for you, is true for everyone. The fundamentals of consciousness are that:
Awareness has depth.
The deeper you go, the more reality will change.
Reality is dependent upon your state of consciousness.
Ass your awareness goes deeper, it acquires more power.
This power can change the world, both inside and out.
There are no facts that cannot be influenced by awareness.
Ultimately your awareness creates everything you experience.
Regarding this list, I can imagine someone saying, Well, if all that is true for everyone, then it must be true for religious people and scientists. Happily, it is. People from every walk of life have stepped into the invisible realm. The scientific label for this place is quantum, although it would be more fair to call it quantum with a difference. The difference is that humans—and not just quarks and superstrings—have a place in the invisible realm.

Just like the hudreds of diet boks and self help books the human race never advances to an higher level but people are forever hoping some book will solve their problems. Deepak Chopra knows this and has fallen in the "Quick Rich" mode of giving people hope knowing full well that 99.9% of people never follow through on what they started out with. Therefore he is no different than all the foregone self help books before him making him millions of dollars laughing at all the fools who take his "sermons" serious.
It is all part of the invisible world that surrounds. What we can see with our eyes, is temporal. What we don't see is eternal- such is the concept of soul.

Brian M. - you sound like you're familiar with leeching,... Perhaps a little generosity of spirit could do more good than harm. Of course, we all contribute what we can. [ideas and ideally]
Chopra never fails to take us all back to the middle ages. What's next a discussion of leeching? Consciousness is a delicate, neurochemical phenomena.
