Sophie, The Life Force Diet is available worldwide, primarily through amazon; however, more and more international publishers are expressing interest in publishing it. At this point, there is no publisher in India for it. Thanks for your question.

Alice, there's nothing wrong with taking enzymes in pill form. Because you're suffering from pancreatitis, you might be thinking of the need for pancreatic enzymes to be enteric coated for them to pass through stomach acid intact. Pancreatic enzymes are quite sensitive to pH levels, which is not the case with most plant enzymes.

I have been told I have chronica pancreatitis, and must take enzymes with my meals. I seem to remember something bad about enzymes that you take as pills. could anyone remind me what that was?

And I would also like to see supporting research on how the enzymes on our food spares our own enzymes. Since enzymes are not "used up" or "broken down" in chemical reactions, this does not make sense to me.

Please understand I am actually interested in seeing the research, not just being argumentative. Contrary to appearances.

Thanks for the interesting discussion. Just because enzymes are proteins does not mean they have little value in our diet. During the digestion process, food sits with its own enzymes (if any were present in the food we ate) for a half an hour in the upper chamber of the stomach before it passes on to other parts of the digestive process. A substantial quantity of our body's own digestive enzymes (and therefore energy) is spared by simply eating more enzyme-rich food that predigests in the upper chamber of our stomach. Not surprising when you consider that we eat at least three times a day for the many years of our life.

Many of the comments are interesting to me since they are clearly based on not having read the program I put forth in my book. Anyone who reads my book will surely see that it is based on sound nutritional advice, NOT focused on any single nutrient (actually, it suggests an extremely well-rounded approach to healthy eating), and can sustain health for life. While offering a vegan option, it is not a vegan program.

What I think is dangerous in any "diet" is to focus too much on any one nutrient. As many modern food writers have pointed out, we've become obsessed with carbs, fats, proteins, etc. as individual entities, and somehow fail to grasp the critical point - that whole, fresh foods are best because they simply bring these nutrients together in a healthy way. Some of it we can't even understand. So I look forward to seeing what these tips are, but I warn anyone away from focusing too much on individual nutrients.

This "diet" is probably a cleverly disguised version of the preposterous notion that heat destroys the "live" enzymes in fruits and vegetables and therefore renders them useless and disease-causing. Digestive enzymes in a healthy human body break down constituent nutrients for absorption and use. "Live" enzymes in raw veg and fruit don't stay "live" for long. As our biochemist points out above, there is no limit to how far ignorant people can be taken in by this kind of pseudoscience.

Thanks to Dr. Hinojoza for some facts and an attempt to educate. They are badly needed. This raw food/"live enzyme" nonsense needs to go away. And yes, I am a vegan who agrees enthusiastically with all her endorsements of a plant-based way of eating.
