The Media is Calling it ‘Mommy Porn’

So many women have asked me how to get their sexy on – in their own bodies. They want to know how they can turn themselves on. Do they need a partner? Can do they re-light their own pilot light with young children to raise, or a sexually stale relationship? It’s the million dollar question: How can we raise our sexual desire up a notch or two? We want to feel better in our own bodies. And we want to do it without sitting on a therapist’s couch. I get it. And so do the readers of Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James which has “Mommies” softly moaning alongside the heroine Anastasia Steele in the runaway bestseller that is all the rage from playgrounds to senior citizen community centers around the country.

Anastasia Steele, Fifty Shades‘ 21-year-old heroine “surrenders” her virginity to the sexually dominant Christian Grey who literally brings Ana to her knees. Are you interested yet? Lady Porn or Mommy Porn has a long literary tradition from Story of O to the fabulous erotica of Anne Rice. Some of us get so turned on and inspired that we even go on our own journey, as I did in Shameless: How I Ditched The Diet, Got Naked, Found True Pleasure and Somehow Got Home in Time To Cook Dinner (Rodale 2011).

Can reading turn you on? I mean really, really turn you on! Can it spike up your sexual desire, and make you want to get grab your partner, or have a little sexual fun with…oh yourself? Oh yes it can, and for those of you that like therapeutic and scientifically proven reasons for this, it’s called bibliotherapy.

Bibliotherapy is using reading as a form of therapy, in this case to increase sexual desire, and turn up our sexual heat. There are even websites likes Bring Back Desire dedicated to supporting women to read erotically as a way to boost, restart or keep their sexual energy going.

Will Fredricks, a Seattle-based sex educator puts it this way:

“Exploring the world of erotica puts sex right in the middle of your brain and inspires fantasy. It’s a natural libido booster, and can get you in the perfect mood for sex with your partner or with yourself.”

Yes, we can read ourselves sexy! When was the last time you picked up a sexy book?

I don’t know about you….but I am heading off to my neighborhood book store. I have a little reading to do! I know – I’m shameless!

Roger - the porn men watch is real eighteen year old girls being buggered by forty year old men so other men can watch and masturbate.
what women read in a book is entirely fictional. no one is actually being degraded.

I think there's a double standard. There's this idea that the porn that men like looking at is a bad thing while the erotica that women like reading is fine. When they're probably looking at and reading about the same thing.

A man & erotica in my house?.......oh yeah,now I'm stimulated.

I saw the "Erotica" category in the Kindle store but didn't know what it was.

I think I'll check it out now. Thanks! :-D

When a woman is deeply, truly head over heels in love with a man and he writes her what it is he wants to do to please her, is completely engrossed with the satisfying of her, while realizing that by taking this approach, there is the undoubted truth, the woman will do anything for a man such as this.......ANYTHING!!!
