The Universal Experience Of Coincidences

Coincidences are so much more than amusements. A coincidence is a clue to the intention of the universal spirit, and as such it is rich with significance. Some people use the phrase “meaningful coincidence” to describe events happening at the same time that have some special meaning for the person who experienced them.

But I believe “meaningful coincidence” is redundant because every coincidence is meaningful; otherwise it would not happen in the first place. The very fact that it happens is meaningful. It’s just that sometimes we are able to glimpse its meaning and sometimes we aren’t.

What is the meaning in a coincidence? The deeper part of you already knows, but that awareness has to be brought to the surface. The meaning does not come from the coincidence itself. It comes from you, the person who is having the experience.

In fact, without our participation any incident is essentially meaningless, the whole universe is meaningless. We are the ones who give meaning to events, and we give meaning to events through intention.

Coincidences are messages from the nonlocal realm, guiding us in the ways to act in order to make our dreams, our intentions manifest. So first you must have an intention, and then you must get in touch with your spiritual self. Only then will you have a way of using coincidence to fulfill your intentions.

Having an intention is easy; it’s as simple as making a wish for one’s life. Becoming more spiritual is difficult. Many people who believe themselves to be spiritual are still not tapping into the vast ocean of the spirit force. Rather, they swim across the surface of that ocean, never diving to discover the depths of the universal experience.

I'm struggling with the discovery that not only is my family tree some form of bizarre mirror image of that of an infamous 1960s murderess(!), but it is very clear that people who were around her in those days, appear to also be connected to me today, and some/all in turn to the Madeleine McCann abduction. Why?
We seem to reincarnate by anagrammatical re-arrangement into groups of the same people. Like a human version of a chemical isotope Two years ago I lucidly dreamed of finding my Grandmother (died 5-6yrs ago aged 100) wandering alone, lost+ tired in an industrial looking environment of grey walls. I lifted her in my arms and took her to safety. The latest image posted on the McCann website looks exactly like me+perfectly images that dream. Its definitely me, but Ive not been out of the UK in 10yrs, and I would rather cut my own head off than harm any child. There is more to this abduction case than meets the eye; I havent particularly followed it but I am certain that the person carrying Madeleine isn't harming but rather is rescuing her. Im even wondering if my Granny was reincarnated as Madeleine. "Co-incidentally", I also discovered that my older sister looks extremely like - Rhonda Wyllie - also linked to the McCann case(!?). Last year I opened a bottle of unshaken fizz at a friends house; The cork didnt just pop 10ft, it flew over a 2-story building 60m away -> into Wyllie Rd.
So very many co-incidences in my life, so little understanding.

You know Uma, I read a very good book several years ago that dealt with exactly what you talk about. When one person changes what they are doing, those around her will do anything to get her to go back to her usual behavior, ever if it was dysfunctional. They will use guilt, coersion, anger, etc, just to get the relationship back to "normal". When people feel "out of step" with someone, when a change has been made, everyone will have to change as well, whether by trying to adjust to the new change, or in worst case, leave. The person who initiated the change needs to stand by their new attitude so she can attract new, supportive and like minded people into her life, or go back to the way things used to be. It takes a lot of courage and trust in one's self to stick by a new attitude or way of being. Thanks for the addition.

Hi Uma,
Great post! I love your anology of the the room as a focus containing all like ideas, and that's why space doesn't matter. As a matter of fact, you may have just cleared up a long standing puzzelment I've had about how our global money system works.I'll let it soak in a bit and see what insights and new results it brings. Thanks !

Lynn I would take that just one little thought further and say whether we notice it or not we are surrounded by other's who carry similar thoughts and vibrations. When we change ours we find, unless the connections are profoundly deep and can contain the strain, that we drift apart one way or another. When someone goes on a diet everyone is trying to feed her and so forth. If she won't go for it she is shunned as thinking she is better. Like holds to like.

Glen, at first it is difficult to understand coincidence. Something happens that is so similar to what is going on currently and we don't have a clue how to connect the dots. However, as Deepak points out in other material, the more we notice coincidences and what is going on around us and in our minds, the easier it will be to understand these gentle nudges from the Universe, or our subconscious. At first I too had trouble putting things together but I just noticed what happened and then filed the incidence/coincidence away in my memory. The more I paid attention, the more coincidences I noticed and the more relevant they became for me. As Deepak said here "Coincidences are messages from the nonlocal realm, guiding us in the ways to act in order to make our dreams, our intentions manifest." So when we pay attention, or just take notice, fairly soon the coincidences begin to take on meaning. And remember, it is also stated that it is our own interpretation that makes these meaningful. To someone else, they may not have any meaning at all. And Uma sums up the collective consciousness tapping into the Universal field quite well. Many ideas emerge simultaneously because all consciousness is connected. Anyone and everyone can tap into this universal field, it just takes practice, attention, and intention.

Uma Chernoff

The universal experience of people arriving at the same ideas synchronistically is well known.Every artist knows that if she gets an idea and doesn't represent it she will find it staring at her from the gallery down the street.During the Cold War government agencies were sure the simultaneous publishing of papers and production of the related technology had to be the work of spies and scientists not keeping the information secret when, as everyone knows, ideas "have their time" they are "out there" if you are attuned to them you pluck them out of the air. Since it happens all the time and is about similar tuning to the same thoughts it is beyond accident.Everything manifest is made of the same substance, matter and energy, vibrating at different rates; ideas all attached to the same focus are universally open to any mind matching the vibration. We always attract to ourselves similar energy surrounding ourselves with people who are vibrating at the same level.Physical space doesn't matter because everything at the same vibration is connected. If there was a great mansion and each room was full of a certain vibration like a prism separating out the colors from the white light;each room filled with all possible ideas vibrating similarly, to that room are attracted the minds that are also in synch, ideas come in and out of that room, nothing can lock them away. There is no accident in coincidence it is the natural result of similarity and attraction.

The article says to dive deeper to really undertsand the signicance of the coincidence....How?

As always, VERY interesting teachings from Deepak Chopra !
I believe there is no such thing as
" coincidence " in the form often perceived;
i.e. not a random " chance " similarity ... but more a message from within.
When 2 people attuned to each other in their relationship and they both simultaneously think the same thought or do the same deed,
rather than coincidence , I believe it is a pointer to choose the correct path !
I believe our lives are mapped out for us,
or at least the opportunities are; BUT it is up to us to choose the correct path to take advantage of those opportunities ! and perhaps a " coincidence " is a confirmation of the correct path to choose !
