From 50 Simple Ways to Pamper Your Dog, by Arden Moore (Storey Books, 2000).

We fill our days meeting work deadlines, maneuvering in traffic, and grocery shopping. What are priorities among canines?

This is a real gem. Pass it along to your dog-loving friends!

Run, romp, and play daily.

If you want what lies buried, dig until you find it.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

When it’s in your best interest, practice obedience.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Take naps and stretch before rising.

My animal friends are certainly Therapy Animals.

Clare B.

I received this years ago as an email and here is the complete version...

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.

Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

Take naps often and stretch before rising.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

Thrive on attention, and let people touch you.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Thanks for this Annie. Great post...I shall look at dogs differently from now on...
A dog is a man's best friend.

Ive had Ozzy the cute bichon frise for 5 years and Ziggy the Springerdor for 5 months. Ozzy is my constant companion due to his size and nature and the fact he thinks my car is his, and Ziggy goes to the river everyday and runs and swims and plays and makes me laugh due to her playful cheeky nature. They are like my children and I cant imagine life without them.
Arent we lucky to live in harmony with an entirely different species?

I did not get my first dog until I was 21 years old. He was suppose to be more of a guard dog than anything else. I have grown to love him so that I would not want thim to put himself in danger to protect us. He gives me so much company and no matter what mood I'm in he always makes it better. His needs are simple, feed me, love me, play with me, love me. If only more of my relations could be that simple!

My darling lil chihuahua Missy is my constant companion I take her with me wherever I can when I go out.. she has a large fan club .Missy is 12 years old weighs a huge 2lbs and is tri coloured long coat, My little girl is getting old in doggy years but still manages to wrestle her white almost furless teddy bear. What a joy she is . Tiny in stature so huge in heart.....

I've got a black lab who is my service dog. He is my angel!

I would do anything for my 14 year old black lab Lady as I know she would do anything for me. And I am sure that if she could she would see that I get weekly massages from a licenced massage therapist like she does for her hip displaysia. I love her to death, she is always there for me non-judgemental and love unconditional.

I just lost my dog two weeks ago. It has been very very hard. All these are so true. I miss the little guy.

A few years ago I rescued a rott mixed with a black lab a quite large dog. She had a very gentle soul and got alone wonderfully with my five year old grandson and they quickly became fast friends. She was my dream dog as I really like bigger dogs. Anyway, my grandson had seem a show about frisbee throwing with dogs so he got the idea to teach ladybug kitkat flower to catch the frisbee. Caleb would throw the frisbee and Ladybug would chase it then sit next to it with her tail waging a mile a minute. He threw it several more times with the same results. Finally Caleb threw the frisbee one more time but this time he ran for the frisbee put it in his mouth and brought it to me. Ladybug finally got the idea and that became a great game for them to play. Sadly I lost her to a house fire in 2001. I think she thought somebody was still in the house and she broke the backdoor window. We found her in the babies room. The earned the neighbors respect when a pitbull attacked an elderly neighbor and she hopped our 6 foot fence and was able to get the pitbull off the neighbor and held down the pitbull until help got there. She was a very special dog and to this day I miss her.
