This Woman Slams Period Shame (And It’s Incredible)

Virtually every woman in the world has witnessed some type of stigma with menstruation –whether it’s from the schoolboy who shows a disgusted face at the sight of a tampon or from a sexual partner who shames you for getting blood on his sheets.

Girls in India have had to stop going to school; women in Nepal have been banned from religious services or social events. And these taboos affect more than social lives. Women in India have faced higher rates of cervical cancer and reproductive diseases due to a lack of proper menstrual hygiene, according to BBC Magazine.

If these stigmas piss you off, watch this woman beautifully slam period shame. Then show this video to every young girl and boy you know who isn’t already in awe of the female body.

PS: If you're slamming uneducated schoolboys, you have a serious mental problem. Blood is scary to children, as is unfamiliarity with things they eventually learn to enjoy, appreciate, love, etc. It's true for girls, too.

Never in 45 conscious years have I ever heard any male family member or friend "shame" a woman in this way. What men are you hanging around with?

I'm not saying it doesn't exist; I'm merely asking why you make -- or stick with -- such poor choices.

I did like the speech quite a bit, yes, but not liking some of the comments on this page. Yes, there are men and people general who are bad with this, but not ALL are! There are a TON of understanding men out there. I'm with one of them. To make it sound like all men think this way isn't right. Maybe a better thing to say would be that the women was lucky this man left her because she deserves one of the better ones out there. I do agree, though, that we should educate our children, both sexes, on this subject better. This way, we will even have more understanding men in the future.
