Tiger Caged in a Louisiana Gas Station … Seriously?
Care2 petitions have helped ban the use of tigers and other wildlife in circuses. But they haven’t stopped a truck stop in Louisiana from having Tony, “The Truckstop Tiger” … yet. The 13-year old Siberain-Bengal has been providing entertainment for visitors, despite his exposure to loud noises and fumes from diesel trucks. Tony has been stuck there for 10 years.
The Dodo reported, “Tony the Tiger will likely remain in his cage at the truck stop, despite a lawsuit brought against Tony’s owner, Mike Sandlin. Now, a bill to provide Sandlin with legal exemptions so he can keep Tony is creeping up the political ranks.”
What do you think? Should Tony be in an animal sanctuary instead of a cage at a truck stop? If your answer is yes, please sign the Care2 petition telling Governor Jindal to veto Senate Bill 250, that would provide an exemption for Sandling from state restrictions on owning exotic cats.
