Yesterday was St. Francis of Assisi Day. While I don’t consider myself a religious person in the traditional sense, I love the “Blessings of the Animals” ritual that comes with this celebration. And it made me think of all the ways that I’m feeling blessed by my dogs, Sanchez and Gina.
1. They remind me to take work breaks and get outside for walks regularly.
2. They are total masters at living in the present moment and are a continuous reminder for me to do the same.
3. They remind me to take time to play, play, play.
4. They listen without judgement to everything going on in my life.
5. They keep me in good shape with agility and off leash hiking.
6. They remind me that life is short. Cherish every moment.
7. They remind me to forgive and forget. And then play!
8. Sanchez was the inspiration for me starting an entirely new career that is helping dogs worldwide.
9. Gina is a real cuddler and reminds me to connect with others through touch.
10. They remind me to count my blessings!

My dog's birthday's coming up, I might think about getting him a bone :)
I don't see these as new, just trendy again. I like the exposed wall.

I love dogs because they are everything that I wish I could be - loyal, loving, brave, compassionate, non-judgemental, unprejudiced, forgiving, honest, enthusiastic and intelligent. They bring me up when I am down, they commiserate when I am sick, they calm me down and give me peace when I'm upset. Their warm soft bodies and soft deep breathing wash away all my worries and put me to sleep at night and their enthusiasm for each new day gets me up and moving when I feel lazy. They've taught me the meaning of unconditional love, broken my heart when they passed away and saved me when I was too scared to love again. Without dogs, my life would be barren and I only hope that in spite of my ignorant, stumbling human ways, I can repay them for all they give.

great article! I have 6 dogs and in september I have adopted a new dog or should I say the dog adopted me since she followed me until my home. Animals are so special and they give us strength and love!
My Benji is my best friend. I am blessed to have a couple of close two-footed friends, and am forever grateful to have the friendship and love of my children--but my dog is my comfort, my joy, my (almost) constant companion--animals are a gift for us to treasure!
I love Choxie and Fortune! They always are sweet and ready to snuggle, play or exercise when the time calls. After a long day (or week), above all they just want to sit on top of me making sure that I get my rest.... Love is without judgement, both are rescues and are the lights of my life....
I Don't Have A Dog Right Now, But When I Did Have One, I Felt SAFE And LOVED! And I LOVED HER BACK!
thx
I "Totally" feel blessed to have my dog Fluffy!! He is so gentle and kind. He gives me all the love and hugs i need. He is always there, cuddling and licking my toes! I don't have to be lonely because he is my companion and his every move makes me happy!! I love him, dearly.
Thank you, beautiful article. I agree, I have 9 dogs and they make my life so much better.
