Sleep apnea is under-diagnosed.

Our beneficial sleep cycles run about 90" each so it is helpful to set your alarm clock accordingly...example in divisible by 1.5 or 3 hrs + the time (10"? 20"?) it takes to fall asleep. Or grab a nap 90" long rather than 1 hr or 2 hrs which would wake you in midst of the 1&1/2 hr cycle. That way you wake up more rested instead of feeling tired.

My husband often has trouble falling and staying asleep...he knows about many of these suggestions...but I'm going to mention the one about having a high-protein snack instead of a sweet.

Lots of good information. I disagree about naps being a "only if you must" option though! Lots of studies show how helpful and healthy napping can be.
