Top 5 Reasons You Should Take A Nap [Infographic]

When we were kids, napping was a regular part of our daily routine (much to the joy of our parents, I’d imagine). When we’re teenagers, we sleep whenever, and as long as we can.

Health science tells us that there’s a good reason for all this snoozing in our younger years: Children need a lot of good quality of sleep to grow, develop, and function well. Sounds great, right? Which makes me wonder why as adults, we abandon the afternoon nap for energy drinks and copious amounts of coffee?

Research from the National Sleep Foundation has found that too little sleep can lead to weight gain, car accidents, and substance abuse, among other things. And even if you can’t manage to get eight hours every night, taking a nap can help you catch up on much-needed rest throughout the day.

Check out the infographic below to learn more about the different types of naps, and how they can improve your energy, memory, and overall feeling of wellness!

If I could, I'd sleep around the clock... which is a waste of time anyway.

What a great article. Thanks! I dont sleep well at night but I do get a nano nap or even to 20mins. Even to close your eyes and deep breathe in and whoosh it all out thru a semi closed mouth changes your breathing to become slower. this way helps you sleep well. if you find your shoulders up under your ears or they are shrugged and tight then do the breathing. in thru your nose and out thru your mouth a bit like a pregnant lady about to give birth. You will then go off to sleep very well and probably have a deep sleep.
I love quick naps b/c i feel they are even more energising.
Great article. thanks for all the interesting info.
