Singling out specific nutrients is a wrong way to view healthy eating. This is what the vitamin supplement lobby promotes so they can sell their expensive and ineffective pills. To be effective, vitamins must be taken in context with their natural sources, whole foods, which contain thousands of other nutrients that work together to provide for our health. You're far better off eating an orange or leafy green vegetable than popping a vitamin C pill.

Get and read Dr. T. Colin Campbell's book, "The China Study" - it is the world's largest, most comprehensive, peer-reviewed scientific study of nutrition ever done. Don't let the title or the "scientific" descriptive scare you off - it's quite readable to the lay person, and a real eye-opener.
