Uplifting Autumn Quotes

Whenever we find ourselves in times of transition–like the one from late summer into autumn, for instance–inspiring quotes can help us to align with the new season coming in, opening our minds and hearts to its beauty and to our place in the great seasonal dance.

Autumn is a perfect time for reflection, but also for joy. Read this uplifting collection of autumn quotes to remind yourself of autumn’s pleasures.

Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.
–Elizabeth Lawrence

Earth’s crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God; And only he who sees takes off his shoes; The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.
–Elizabeth Barrett Browning

All those golden autumn days the sky was full of wings. Wings beating low over the blue water of Silver Lake, wings beating high in the blue air far above it . . . bearing them all away to the green fields in the South.
–Laura Ingalls Wilder

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
–George Eliot

All-cheering Plenty, with her flowing horn, Led yellow Autumn, wreath’d with nodding corn.
–Robert Burns

I saw old autumn in the misty morn
Stand shadowless like silence, listening
To silence.
–Thomas Hood

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness! Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun; Conspiring with him how to load and bless With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run; To bend with apples the moss’d cottage trees, And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core.
–John Keats

The smile that flickers on baby’s lips when he sleeps – does anybody know where it was borne? Yes, there is a rumor that a young pale beam of a crescent moon touched the edge of a vanishing autumn cloud, and there the smile was first born . . . .
–Rabindranath Tagore

Every season hath its pleasure; Spring may boast her flowery prime, Yet the vineyard’s ruby treasuries Brighten Autumn’s sob’rer time.
–Thomas Moore

Youth is like spring, an over praised season more remarkable for biting winds than genial breezes. Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.
–Samuel Butler

I love Autumn, the tree turning to beautiful colours and then the great fun of scuffing through the leaves! The berries and bright colours and the crisp evenings mak this a glourious time of year.
