5 Quick Ways to Spice Up Your Breakfasts

1. Mix Up Your Grains

Oatmeal and grits are you standard breakfast grains, but that doesn’t mean you have to keep it that way! Try using other tasty grains like quinoa, amaranth, cous cous, or steel-cut oats for your breakfast instead. These grains can take longer to cook, so don’t save that task for the morning! When you have some time over the weekend or on a weekday evening, cook up a pot of that week’s grain of choice, so you’ll have it ready to heat up quickly in the morning.

Once you have your grains in the fridge, you can heat them in the morning on the stove or in the microwave with all the fun mix-ins you associate with oatmeal:

  • soy, almond, or cashew milk
  • chopped nuts or seeds
  • dried fruit
  • fresh fruit
  • flax meal or chia seeds
  • spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, etc.

Next time you're preparing your oatmeal, try to add some chopped chocolate, and (when it's almost ready) a teaspoon of marmalade (orange, apricot and mixed berries are my favourites). Might not be the healthiest version possible, but sometimes it's just what you need ;)

I used to skip breakfast altogether or sometimes get it through a drive-thru window. Now I drink breakfast shakes in the morning. To spice them up, sometimes I make them with coffee for something like a coffee latte. Other times, I mix in blueberry matcha tea powder and that, not only kicks up the flavor experience, but also the antioxidant value.

Yes, Mrs S., I think it would. Some breakfasts can take you happily through 'til evening.No point in eating calories you don't like.Anyway who can prevent your doing what you want in this matter?
