Does a person’s treatment of their pets reveal their true character? Personally, I’d be very pleased if someone evaluated my essence by my relationship with Sanchez and Gina. But, I’m not so sure that Mitt Romney feels the same.
With all the hype about putting his Irish Setter, Seamus, in a crate on top of the car for 12 hours during a family vacation years ago, it may always come back to bite him. Especially since he reportedly put Seamus back on the car roof after he had diarrhea. Even in hindsight, Romney states that he didn’t do anything illegal, so he believes his behavior was acceptable. Dogs, however, are disagreeing. They are barking about it on DogsAgainstRomney.com, a site founded in 2007. They are calling it abuse and wearing bandanas that say, “I Ride Inside”. And their Facebook page, has over 34,000 passionate fans.
If we listen carefully, our pets give us advice all the time. Watch “The Mutt Romney Blues” below as Seamus sings the real story, while playing a mean blues guitar. Song courtesy of Ry Cooder.
Is Romney’s refusal to be accountable for a past error relevant to his political career? Thanks for posting your opinion in a comment below.

They say you can tell a lot about a man by how he treats animals.
Poor Seamus!! I bet he had a hard life living with Romney.
Wow!
Thanks.
Merrily L, I have thought on it long and hard ever since Obama moved into the White House and promptly broke a promise he made during his campaign. His daughter's allergies and whatever else made him choose a dog from a breeder he knew when he made his promise. If he knew he couldn't keep his promise he shouldn't have made it. I hold people to their word, and when they break their word, it shows me a lack of character. And that type of man I do not want to see as our president. I voted for Obama in the last election, but now that he's shown how easily he breaks promises, you can be assured I will never vote for him again.
Nina G. It's possible that Obama learned, after being sworn in, that the only way you can get a truly 'predictable' dog, is by buying from a reputable breeder. Certain breeds do show specific propensities regarding their behavior, and in his case, the alergic reaction/non-reaction, of his daughter. Like you, I wish he'd gotten one from a shelter, but do understand the reasoning (in a small way), of him doing as he did. Far better would have been to get an animal from a 'breed specific' shelter - as I did, when I got our Hannah, a pure-bred Australian Shepherd. Just an fyi, we also now have 4 animals (2 dogs & 2 cats) from the local humane society. I *am* certain that Mr. Obama had a lot of pressure from many to 'take this dog' or another from them. Which shelter should he have honored, by getting a dog from them? Think on it.
Dogs against Romney now.
why are all of the republican candidates so unbelievably stupid?
That's one cold-hearted man!
