We are never completely satisfied with what is happening in this moment. In fact, the idea that we need something that is not present right now is the root of our discontent. Even when we achieve everything we always wanted, we feel there is something missing. Why? Because we are so accustomed to waiting for something more, that nothing is ever enough.
We have cultivated the habit of feeling dissatisfied to such an extent that it has become the norm. This is true for rich and poor, for the loneliest and most extroverted of us all. The perception of inherent lack, of a carrot that is always just out of reach, serves only to guarantee our suffering.
Yet if you shift your attention to being instead of obtaining, and focus on experiencing this moment in its fullness instead of on the suffering caused by the absence of your desire, you will be open to receive; to truly see everything that life is bringing you in each moment. There is nothing wrong with desire, but in order to desire without suffering, you must desire without attachment. Be present, and let go of the idea of how things should be in order for you to feel satisfied. Your state of being is what matters; that is what can bring you joy. We think that what we get will bring us joy, but when we are present in this moment, the energy of joy is abundant, and the only thing it brings is more joy. You are that happiness. You are that joy. It doesn’t depend on your external circumstances.

+ add your ownMaybe you can't know for sure what animals are
feeling. But do you believe that little brown birds
get up in the morning and think about how
depressingly grey the sky is?
Do you think they wonder about how much prettier
all the other birds are, and how their voice is
kind of small? And do they maybe decide that they
just won't sing that day because they are so sad
about all of this?
No, they get up and belt out their songs, day
after day.
I think we should develop a greater appreciation
for all of life - including our own.
I show my thanks by being happy every day.

we should thank God every day for what we have, as there is so many sad things going on in the world today.. Be happy and love one another...
Thanks for the article.
For me, when I concentrate on Gratitude and what I am thankful for each and every day, I find that I am left feeling positivly empowered.
Thanks for the info.
"Those who are content with what they have have everything they could ever want, but those who are always wanting more, of course, they are never content and never have enough."
I don't agree with this, I think for us to spiritually evolve we have to be aware of what is missing. For example tonight there will be so many children in this world will go to bed with empty stomach, knowing this howcan I be content?
Those who are content with what they have have everything they could ever want, but those who are always wanting more, of course, they are never content and never have enough. Also,to reach the former state requires a spiritual eye, while the latter needs only the two eyes. The spiritual eye is the one that would give us the true happiness.
To truly be happy you have to stop and appreciate all you have. Gods Love fills us all.
