Anna Lappe, co-founder of the Small Planet Institute, stands in front of a cosmetics display at Whole Foods and tells us about the things manufacturers donít want us to know about their ingredients, and what we should watch out for.
The FDA started drafting regulations in 1978, but 32 years later they still offer only a draft so manufacturers are not required to level with us and verify their claims. For example 1 in 8 sunscreens does not block UVA rays. Your skin is your largest organ and you may be using harmful products for most of your life. Anna urges you to go to the Environmental Working Groupís Skin Deep website where you can find out just what is in your favorite cosmetic that might not be good for you.
