When a Situation Troubles You

When a Situation Troubles You

Adapted from Power, Freedom, and Grace, by Deepak Chopra (Amber Allen, 2006).

The world of the timeless is the world of pure consciousness, where every moment is free. This moment is free because all your troubles live in the past or in the future, which means they live in your imagination.

When a situation is troubling you, then ask yourself, “What’s wrong right now?” If you do this, then you realize that in this moment there are no problems. Separate the situation from the moment, because the situation will pass, while the moment will remain. The situation always transforms, but every moment remains perfect and unchanged.

Keep your attention on this moment. This moment is the only moment you have the power to act. You cannot take action in the past or in the future, so if you dwell on the past or on the future, you feel powerless. Life is in this moment. Therefore, live in this moment. Detach from worry in this moment. Stay in this moment. This is life-centered, present-moment awareness.

This is good for everyday situations. But what about unusual circumstances? How spiffy is savoring the moment you are in when the elevator wont open and you have a past life flashback of being sealed in a tomb? Or the really spiffy moment when you discover your soul mate is not sleeping while watching golf but is in fact dead and will no longer need the dinner you just made him? Or the moment a trusted friend slips a gear and decides to hold a knife to your throat just to see what you will do.Or how about when the Dentist puts a hand over your mouth and says "strangle you" his assistant gasps in shock and you nrealize he means it and the procedure isn't finished yet.Sometimes prayer trumps "living in the moment" I will continue to pray and ask for guidance when it really counts!Had I been busy savoring the present moment and analysing it instead of listening to little voice I might not be here to write this.

Isn't it uncanny how these powerful thoughts enter our lives at the moment we need them, at the moment we need reminding to stay in the present?

What a gift.

Peace and love to all,
Cynthia

Take time in time as long as it lasts, because time is gone after it moved past.

This is so true, but for most of us we get caught up feeling sorry for ourselves and we dwell either on the past or the future. Which is truly fruitless. I agree everyone should live in the momment and be greatful.
