Because watching TV is more important?
Because repukes want to imitate Rush?
Because repukes in Congress consider ketchup a vegetable?

Why are we obese? We're obese because we're greedy and lazy.

Sorry, can you say that again please? Why are we obese?

WE'RE OBESE BECAUSE WE'RE GREEDY AND LAZY!!!!!!!!!! So greedy that we can't say no to food even if we're not hungry! So lazy that we won't do any exercise even if we could see ourselves growing from slim to chubby to fat to obese! So lazy we won't even want to eat slow food, it has to be fast food! We don't watch what we eat and how much we eat!

After I read the comments, I didn't even bother to listen to the video - poor woman was talking and talking and I didn't even bother to listen. I agree with these comments but our changed lifestyles which are too sedentary plays a big role.
When one was born outside of N.America, it's a big shock to observe the amount of manufactured food which is eaten here. A further shock is that wasteful people really don't know how 80% of the world lives - they continue to discard food.
I feel very sorry for children who start their lives with a poor diet.

Why are we obese? Simple: wrong diet and sedentary lifestyle.

Lynne B, You make many excellent observations. Thanks

Randi L, Yes, it may be a silly video, but look to the bright side...it got people talking, about the elephant that has been so long, in the room.

Amanda M. All the movies that you have cited are excellent, but I wonder how many people were actually were wakened enough to take positive action.

Gianna M, Yes, medical conditions could possibly account for 1%. I once had a Solar customer, who weight in at 340 pounds, yes, as big as a house. He had formerly worked at the Ford Rouge Plant in Michigan, one day he suffered a back "injury." He sued the company and they settled. He later sued SSI for rejecting his claim, he won.
His real problem and all of the aftermath, stemmed from his obesity. He once mentioned that his weight "problem" was due to a thyroid condition, but there was no one to sue over that statement and his wife pointed to refrigerator. I think she was trying to say something.

Ron B, "Food for thought," perhaps if more people were to think, they would weight much less.

So much obesity and yet, in America, we throw away 47 million tons of food each year.

I have this reoccurring dream, a nightmare actually, I am in Walmart, I turn left into an aisle, but my exit is blocked by 2 rather large women. I turned to escape but there are 2 very large women preventing me from doing so. Being the resourceful guy that I am, I reached out for handfuls of packaged lard, which I began throwing to the women.

There's no mystery - eat less and exercise more.
