Thanks to Stella G. who is the only one who said what foods contain B1.
thanks, going to get me some more!
Surely we need all the vitamins. Wondering why B1 is urged unless there are people out there defiantly shouting, "Keep your filthy vitamin B1! I'm not going to eat any."
I know alcoholics are severely deficient of this nutrient. It is the first thing a doctor prescribes to an alcoholic besides quitting drinking. This was the case with someone I once roomated with, she could hardly walk when sober. I am guessing it has something to do with the vitamin deficiency. She came back from the urgent care with whole prescriptions of industrial strength B1 supplements among others and of course swearing off the alcohol. I wonder how she did. Most addicts go back to the vomit they spewed.
Need all B vitamins.
B1 is also an essential nutrient which means that your body cannot produce it and that it must enter your body through your food or supplementation. And you can suffer disease symptoms or even die without enough of it.
A Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) Deficiency Can Cause Depression and Other Symptoms and Must be Obtained From Your Diet.
A Deficiency of Vitamin B1 can cause Depression, Insomnia, Eye Problems, Fatigue, Dizziness, Agitation, Heart Palpitations, Lung Congestion. Also Difficulty Walking, a Pricking, Burning Sensation in the Toes and Feet, Leg Cramps, Atrophy or Wasting of the Muscles. In infants a B1 deficiency could cause them to partially lose their voice.
-Three diseases a B1 deficiency can cause
Beriberi is an acute B1 deficiency disease that can lead to death.
Korsakoff syndrome which results in confusion and short term memory loss and Wernickes disease which has symptoms that include mental confusion.

There are many nutrients like B1 that are essential and can cause numerous disease symptoms like depression. A good question to ask yourself before you take a dangerous drug is, Could what I am feeling be a deficiency of an essential nutrient that is causing a chemical imbalance?
