Wisdom from Derek Sivers

Wisdom from Derek Sivers

Whatever excites you, go do it.

Whatever drains you, stop doing it.

You have to pay close attention to that compass, even in little day-to-day decisions.

You get offered a gig – they’re on the phone waiting for an answer – is it exciting you or draining you? To make a new website is going to take about 10 hours of work. Does that excite you or drain you?

If it doesn’t excite you, don’t do it….Continue reading at InspireMeToday.com.

Are you serious?

How long will a marriage last with this philosophy?
This too simplistic. Life with commitment is more complicated than this.

So do you see why this article angers me?

Whatever excites you, go do it.

Whatever drains you, stop doing it.

These are the directions to hell.

I remember where I was before I got sentenced to life as mortal. I came to help but stopped to long a while in the astral. With exciting companions I went for the drama of the astral plane.
We, as demons, gambled about distressing humans for the fun of it,

Mortals are for use, get all the excitement, all the drama, all the sensation possible from their stupid bodies. Indulge and play with them as useless toys to be cast aside. I had come to the
lower worlds from the mental plane where I had been bored. I had come to help but betrayed my purpose.

The Legion of Light, in which I had enlisted, would not allow me to continue to destroy myself and mount the karma higher than ever I could pay. I was called into the court of Lords of Karma. I was sentenced to Earth to be mortal,. I, who had been an exalted teacher in the Halls of Brahm reduced to penury. My power were taken away until I could prove myself worthy. I was given a slate of lessons to learn:

Overcome the addiction to drama.
Control your desire for sensation.
Get off the ego trip. You shall be humbled.
Learn to do good and not evil.
Pay your karma acquired so recently.
Experience yourself what you did to others.
When this penalized life is finished
report for your review.

I've pretty well done all assigned to me.
I'm still in love with Satan but I deny.
I still would romp with demons but I do not.
Blood and pain excite me but I refuse.
I think I shall pass and serve with Jesus.
I am no d

Whatever excites you, go do it.

Whatever drains you, stop doing it.
.......................................................

This illusion was my creed.

When I was young,
first sprung adult,
I lived by this philosophy.
Somehow, I was protected.
And miserable.

Others were not protected.
In jail or, perhaps, prison,
which did the draining
without escape
or option
to stop doing it.

I learned, however,
through misery.
If it's exciting, avoid.
Take time to think.
Drama! Wild and free,
soon becomes misery.

I have learned.
Contentment is better
than adrenalin.
carries a heavy price.
