NYC is now home to over 500 community gardens. They started on the Lower East Side in the 1970s when “Green Guerrillas” started throwing seeds over fences and gardening illegally on abandoned lots. Today they are supported by the Parks Department which provides tools, seeds, and technical help to volunteers and members. Most are divided into small plots maintained by individuals who not only create these gardens which enrich their lives in many ways.
You’ll be inspired by this video to contact your city to learn about existing community gardens or help start one.

Nice idea.
It is hard to find good neighbors because we seldom see them long enough to have a common garden. Space is also a problem or the lack of it.
Thanks for the post, Cris, and the link to Judi's previous post (so very glad the articles remain on the website). We have a shared paseo with small oak trees that would be a perfect place to grow a shared garden. I'll check with the neighbors.
thanks
