Melanie, just because the oldest "surviving" Ogham was carbon-dated to Christian times does not mean that's when it started. Remember, the Christians destroyed alot of Pagan temples, artifacts, statuary, standing stones, and people. They wanted to blot out all evidence of the ancient way. If your sources are saying Ogham is Christian, your sources are probably Christian themselves, and BIASED.

Being of Irish desent. This was not a good topic. We do beleive trees do have meaning to them. But in hororscope was. The Ogham everyone is talking about was first NOTED in 1800 BC there is possiable even earlier. But remeber the first noted Celtic tribe was back in 600-800 BC. And they too had "werid" writing consecting of "stracches." It is true Ogham is very old. The original Oghams had only 20. Not 25!

Here is a good, well researched link on the ogham for those interested: http://www.clannada.org/ogham_alphabet.php

Yes, the Ogham is a form of Celtic writing, but it is NOT ancient. The oldest surviving examples of Ogham are dated to Christian times. Read "The Druids" by Ellis or any other actual history book. Yes these things are fun, but it's wrong to say they are ancient and that the Celts believed this. They didn't.
