Two new bears have joined our Animals Asia family - a young female in China and a middle-aged male in Vietnam. I'll write more in my next blog about the tragic story of "Misa Hai" in Vietnam, who was kept in a terrible, dark cage for 14 years.

Three lions are settling into their new digs at the Detroit Zoo after leaving a rat-infested junkyard in Kansas. Zoo officials took delivery of the trio -- one male and two females -- early Thursday morning. They were taken from the Prairie Cat

The first ospreys of 2009 have arrived in the UK, with two males at Rutland water and 1 female at Loch of the Lowes in Scotland. The first two were both sighted on Friday 20th March, with a second bird seen at Rutland Water on Sunday 22nd.

The Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge, a retreat for abused, neglected or displaced felines, will receive an eight-pound, three-week-old royal white tiger cub known as Nishchala (Nish). The cub was donated by a sister site in South Carolina.
