Livestock now use 30% of the Earth's entire land surface, including 33% of the arable land which is used to produce feed for the livestock. Raising animals for food requires 10 times as many crops as we would need if we simply ate the grains directly.

I think the clearest way to understand the problem with cloning is to consider a broader question: Who benefits from it? The nation's large meatpacking companies. Genetic diversity is an essential bulwark against disease. Consumers will suffer, genes die.
