U.Mass at Amherst has had wind turbines for many years. Great to see them expanding.

GOOD IN THEORY BUT WE HAVE THEM A FEW MILES AWAY ON ALTAMONT PASS AND THEY KILL THOUSANDS OF BIRDS EVERY YEAR SO THEY TURN THEM OFF-THEY ARE UGLY AND I HATE THE IDEA OF DEAD BIRDS SO I AM NOT IF FAVOR OF THEM.

There needs to be some action to develop ways of deterring birds from wind turbines. I think this could be accomplished if there were the will to do so.

That's horrific to learn!!!
What's wrong with the engineers? Wouldn't they be able to predict that would have happened to the birds??
Isn't it possible to build them at heights beyond where birds fly... What other way could be utiilized.... Of course that may involve all sorts of complications with airplanes altho hopefully they could be avoided.....but the birds should not die by the thousands. That is very wrong...What in the world can be done about that? Are solar panels hazardous to wildlife in any way? Perhaps that's our only truly viable clean-energy option, altho expensive, and clean energy must begin to take over big-time right now.
It may be possible to build a screen around the turbines (which a screen may have its own set of problems:( ) that is extremely fine but will probably interfere with proper functioning.

What's wrong with people? Can we build anything that doesn't mangle other life forms? Humans should have tested out the first wind turbines to see if that would happen and made adjustments looong ago if this problem arose! Instead, I think they knew & built them anyways...

duke is alrard to deal with and they keep buying up smaller companies to where you aren't going to have a choice but deal with them and thats not fair

Wind energy is great, but can we preserve the life of wild life (birds, ect) they are a part of our ecological world.......we need to really access the process and protect our ecological world............for SOOOOOO MANY DECADES we have said screw the environment, we need what we need!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
