what was he doing to get attacked? I hope the man is ok and that the cat is put down humanely.

Yes I hope that this cat was peacefully and skillfully put to sleep so that it did not suffer this horrible disease. It would be most unusual for a bobcat to attack or even show itself for that matter. I have hiked in areas that many bobcats live and other than smelling their really strong spray I have never seen one up close, altho I'm certain they had their eyes on me.

A rabid animal don't need a reason to attack. they are out of there mind already because of the disease

Noted! I'd say turn around is fair play as man is always the predator!

was the man a hunter? or just hiking?

what if it were a child and got bit? that would of been the same "Yahhhhhhhhhhhh turbabout karma. whoo hoo. go get 'em nature. human the hunter is now the prey"

it's a horrible disease, where the animal is not in their right mind, I experienced first hand with a friendly dog who used to run with me while I was on my bike part way down the road every day, until one day he came out the end of his driveway as per usual only this time he started growling & trying to bite me, luckily I was on my bike going down hill, I just put my feet up on the handle bars & kept going, it was sad because he was my friend, but I didn't know him that day it was horrible & he was put down.

How about this : stay out of wild animals ways, we wonder why we get attacked and call animals aggressive and whatnot, but maybe just don't intrude in their lives. Might help... For gods sake people.

People need to stay out of wild animal territories. If you mess with them and get bit, then rabies; it's your fault NOT the animals! People who want to live near "nature" should stay away from the animals; they are only protecting their home.
