What wastes up to 1.5 millions tons of plastic every year and requires up to 47 million gallons of oil per year to produce? Bottled water! This fact and more is taken from Chris Baskind's article Lighter Footstep: 5 Reasons Not to Drink Bottled Water.

I very very rarely drink bottled water. I think there's absolutely no need for it except for emergency or very special circumstances. Other than that it is a luxury, a fad, a status symbol, and misguided thinking because of the unbelievable waste it causes in landfills and waterways and litter. I think the figure is--- less than half of all plastic actually gets recycled.
