Temperatures are set to go through the roof today, with sweltering estimates of 33C in some areas. I cannot stress how important it is to not leave dogs in cars at times like this. Heat from the sun intensifies through the glass windows, and can cause

Thanxx.... it is terrrible that people cannot think for themselves and realise that a dog can "cook" in a car... Lets hope that there will be more awareness on this...

2nd July 2009. A police dog handler could face prosecution after two German Shepherds he left in his car died in the sweltering heat. The dogs were left in his private vehicle in a police HQ car park as temperatures hit almost 30C.It is thought the heat in the car could have reached 50C. The car was parked just a few yards from temperature-controlled kennels built to house Nottinghamshire police's dogs in comfort. Thanks Cher.

There is no accounting for the utter stupidity of some people. This time of year here in the desert southwest of the US everyone who parks in the sun for more than 15 minutes (which is probably 99.999% of our population) has experienced 1st or 2nd degree burns from seats, door window sills, and steering wheels. Yet they still will shut off the car, lock it, and run into a store leaving an animal or child in it.
