I am afraid if some cannot declaw the cats they adopt or buy, that more cats will be put to sleep. My husband has diabetes. Due to his limited power to heal, I did declaw my cats, but, just the front ones. Call me cruel, but, I think this helped with a lot of wounds that would not heal. I loved my cats. They never had an issue about being that way. I still believe it is up to the cat care taker.

Sharen cats are put to 'sleep' with their claws, the problem is due to the lack of controlling population by passing laws that animal companies (including feral animals) should be either spade or neutered. I fully support passing laws for the protection of innocent beings because declawing is barbaric and disrespectful. If you are unable to care for animal companions with their claws intact then I would suggest getting fishes instead.
