Many dog owners love to train their pets to do special tricks, but few people think of cats -- with their famously finicky and independent streaks -- in quite the same way.

As long as no animal is forced - why not! Cats just express themselves differently! Lovely, wonderful creatures! Thanks Cher!

You can train any animal (if you wish to, I often question WHY someone would want to train animal to preform circus tricks for entertainment- but that aside...)

No animal is beyond training, humans being one of them. (don't forget your mommy potty "TRAINED" you before you could even talk proper!)

I have seen a demonstration of this training method, and it's remarkable. Cats ARE very trainable, I've found -- it just takes patience and the willingness to bridge that gap, as it were, in the methods of communication.

This is wonderful news. Things they are going to be achanging in this house. We have had cats for over 25 years and I can categorically state that we are the ones who have been trained by the cats. I haven't sat on the couch to watch TV in 25 years - no room.

Who in their right mind would want to train a cat. Still I suppose there are those that would want to convert the Pope to Islam! Training a cat is unnatural and therefore potentially cruel and as far as I am concerned belongs in tyhe bin with declawing tail docking ear clipping and any other idiot things people dream up to make a dollar. Any fool that expects an animal to conform to their house rules should buy themselves a wind up fluffy toy and be done with it! Their powers of empathy are non existant and they certainly do not deserve to be owned by a cat if there intentions are not cat friendly and that includes providing convenient litter trays and being excused the odd accident on the carpet and rip in the $4000 sofa etc. How would you like to be taken to some idiot who kept clicking stupid thing in yopur ear and saying all manner of tripe in your ear. It's a hard enough life looking after a human anyway without al that bull! If you don't like the way us cats behave don't invite us into your domain!

Personally I wouldn't bother trying to train any of my cats - I love them just as they are - persnickety spoiled and loving ;-) I suppose for some folks it might serve a pupose, but it kind of gives me the willies :-P

Interesting. I agree that cats rule. I say give the cats the clickers and let the humans jump on command!
