Noted. When will we all finally be treated equal? Is there a race out there where women have such a system in place? No there isn't one, because woman are a smarter race unto their own. We're just not that thick in the head. In truth, men are afraid of us and so hence through fear have to control us.

Noted but can't sign. This is merely 1 in a long list of terrible abuses and murders because they are female. It is terrible that a religion and culture encourages this.

It's disgraceful such old fashion behaviour continues towards young people; it time it stop and any adult should be put into prison to prevent them from killing their daughters, who have done now no wrong. While locked away Mothers should learn that their daughters are growing-up, in a different world from them. These old fashion 'Laws regarding young teenagers much change now, before they become more difficult with such counties ending-up as a all 'male' places.....

Well this is retarded barbarism and I don't understand why the majority of the female population don't get mad enough to go up in arms and take care of these murders, if the so called courts aren't going to do the right thing. I know there must be some women that have been cultivating a back bone over there someplace. Injustice should be delt with JUSTICE!

Just like female and male circumcision, you MUST have a death penalty for these honor killings. No human has the right to make life-and-death decisions over another human.

Thanks for the information ! These so called "honour killings" are still happening & of course should be jugded with a murder sentence...why don´t we have a justice system if they don´t act upon it?

"honoe killings" and i use the words very loosely, need to be outlawed everywhere and we need to start with the Americas and Eurpean Countries to set an example, Gemany has been laxadatal in fully charging them against the individuals who have commited them there [mainly Turks]

I'm sure God has an honorable place in hell for those lowly creatures.

Someone should bury them alive and do the rest of the world a huge favor.

Just tried to sign this petition and turns out I can't cause I don't live in the US. Everybody should have a mechanism to protest against this. It is a matter of humanity. There has to be a way to make pressure on all countries so that these so-called "honor" killings are treated like what they really are: Crimes. And Turkey pretends to be a part of the European Union?

Yes, well....the "politically correct" will argue that it's their CULTURE and it's their RELIGION and all cultures/religions have EQUAL VALUE. You've heard this--you've seen what's happening in Europe, and to a certain extent, in the US, too. We've got to stand up to the "it's my religion and I"m entitled to it" faction and stop this violence against women!

To Pia-- Turkey is NOT part of the EU. They would like to be but there is the small matter of the territory in Cyprus that they are occupying.

It's amazing how some religions and cultures carry on with such barbaric behavior throughout the centuries! I guess some sects of people just have not mentally developed. Too much inbreeding perhaps?

"'Honor killings' are a despicable tradition justified and justifiable by no religion." (from the petition letter) Well put! I can't sign this because I'm not a U.S. resident. These "honor" killings happen here in Sweden too. It's disgusting. What honor does it bestow on the family for other families to know they have killed their own child? Should bring disgrace to them instead.

It's time that the world get rid of so called "tradition". If it harms another being - be it animal or human - it is murder. We are living in the 21st century for crying out loud. Surely we are supposed to progress - move on and leave the bad traditions behind.

Stupid, brutal and needless killings! Islam is the leading religious instigator in perpetrating such acts, because it teaches that the patriarch has the right of life and death over everyone in his household, especially slaves, women, offspring and animals. But even an aged or useless horse, or a goat that no longer gives milk is granted a more humans end than that poor girl. Murder s murder is murder...

Noted and SIGNED. I can easily imagine having been a victim of this horror - having been raped by my religulous paternal 'grandfather' who could have then turned right around and denounced me for "talking with boys" and then handling the "honor" killing himself. It is not difficult to imagine incest abusers becoming serial "honor" killers. This entire nightmare shows so clearly yet another example of how HATED woman are in so much of this world - we give life - and our lives are DEMONIZED.

Honor. Honor. Do people who are capable of this even know the meaning of the word? The girl undoubtedly knew far more about honor than her murderers ever could.
