I could weep tears of blood because of what is being done to these most marvellous, glorious and beautiful predators! I fail to comprehend the kind of mentality that can kill one of these tigers, knowing full well how few there are left. Very soon the gene pool will be far too small for the species to be viable in any case! You shoot a tiger dead, and what do you have? You have a corpse. True, you can make money by selling the pelt, the penis (if male), the testicles (if male), the bones and the claws, also the head.

However, once the very last tiger has been murdered - then what? NO MORE TIGERS! EVER!

If the human race were decimated to the same proportions as tigers, one single human would have to roam their country or the world for perhaps tens of housands of miles before finding another human being to socialise with. This could be calculated scientifically for an exact figure, but you get the point!

Cultural beliefs defy explanation - once again! Once again we find a magnificent species being eradicated through greed and cultural beliefs - when will it stop? Don't they realise that 'believing' all the hog-wash pertaining to the medicinal uses of claws and sexual parts will lead to their own downfall, as well as that of the tiger? Here they are on a mental par with the rhino poachers - their horns consist of nothing but hair - yet they 'believe' they will be given superhuman powers and extreme sexual prowress should they crush and eat them!!! How primitive!! What can we do to STOP these barbaric imbeciles once and for all?? Any valid suggestions?? Obviously education is not working - so perhaps if we do the same unto them (those who are perpetrating these cruel acts) they may change their stance on this - any chance of this happening? Let's see how they enjoy OUR cultural belief of an eye for an eye and evil begets evil! (Unless in retribution!!)

I signed up today. I have been following this tragedy on other sites and it seems that Russia and China are the only nations that have the ability for effective enforcement against poaching but they also have problems. Tiger protection seems to be less effective in India and the smaller nations.

It is so vile and abhorrent to me that humans choose quick profit and fake medicine to the cost of species eradication. It defies all sense and good moral character to place value on a living being solely for what you believe it can do for you. This gluttonous mindset of self-entitlement that has become the globally accepted norm will lead to our own demise, and rightfully so. It is a tragedy that we are hell bent on taking the innocent along with us.

Humans are not in danger of extinction anytime soon. It's past time that more intelligent minds among us prevail and do whatever is necessary to limit human impact on tiger habitat, among others. It's simply not fair to allow humans to drive other species to extinction with no regard whatsoever for the future or the health and welfare status of those with whom we share the planet.
