A record number of manatees died in Florida in 2010, and officials blame many of the deaths on the year's unusually cold weather.

What a gentle gianet, this is so sad! Humans have distroyed the Oceans and our World with their careless actions and these special creatures are the ones suffering!

Thank you Cher, Noted with so much sorrow!

Noted. We used to have manatees swim up behind our house on the ICWW in St. Augustine. They were so amazing to watch.

Unfortunately people hit them in boats, on ski-doos, sea-doos, etc., and cause internal injuries leading to a high # of deaths. OMG over 25% of the newborns died last year.

People, this does not bode well for the manatee; especially with the cold weather that's predicted for next week in Florida.
