Growing scarcity of girls and women has tilted the balance of the sexes and the rich and poor in nations where "gendercide" is practiced on a large scale.

Petition signed.

I had heard about the problem in China but, had no idea that the gendercide is occurring in
India as well. May very well be taking place in other countries as well in the world.

This gendercide is so wrong. Nature has done a good job of her own to balance out
the ratios throughout the centuries.

Once again, man is meddling with Mother Nature... Will this ever stop...

TY, Cher.

Signed and Noted! In these countries where gendercide is practiced, it keeps the society from advancing in important matters such as human rights and animal rights- especially China! When you have a whole gender that is treated as inferior and i.e. decimating them, then you're holding that country back as you are preventing the valuable input of half the population. Women bring many intellectual and intuitive gifts to a society that men can't. These are countries that are holding progress back with their inequalities, totalitarian mindsets, and archaic and inaccurate beliefs.

Not only do humans upset the balance of the wilderness and the environment but even with our own species, surely they knew that this would be the outcome, an inbalance of the sexes, no wonder there is a slave sex trade.

I've read an article before where ignorant Care2ers bashed Dubai for not allowing abortion. Do you people have any idea how many South Asian couples will get rid of their female fetuses if we just allowed them? Perhaps what Dubai is doing is a little extreme, kinda like India's ban on ultrasounds, but its such a serious problem that lawmakers cant take such risks.
You know, I've even watched a documentary about this problem before, and I rememeber seeing this Paki/Indian mom who admitted that she has gotten rid of up to 4 daughters!!!
Definitely signed. Thanks, dear. *cyber hug*

Although this is good information to get out there, as it does exist, I do want to give a bit of a ray of hope of the subject. I was reading an article not long ago that China is starting to realze it's mistake so is now starting to allow in certain areas of the Country the people to have two children so there will be a boy and a girl, but if two girls or two boys are born it remains still as two. China is also given extra financial incentive to keep the girl by giving a monthly allotment of money to the family and seeing to it that the girl gets a quality education. It may not be perfect but it is a sign of improvement.

Noted and signed. Thank you, Cher. I had heard that this was happening in India and China when abortion became available...boys take care of their parents in their old age. I knew it would become a major problem, but not being a male who thinks rape is his right and women are chattel, I never thought this would happen. Horrifying. Once again humans prove they are NOT the most intelligent species, they are just the top predators, even of their own species.

2010 Chinese census data show 118 males for every 100 females. More and more, it's being recognized that selectively aborting female fetuses is wrong. I'm pro-choice, but I think that until this gender discrimination is ended, people who care should consider adopting a Chinese girl baby. I know a couple in Santa Rosa who did and they and their daughter are visibly a very happy family. We are living in Beijing and have friends in other parts of China. We recently met an adorable eight-year-old Chinese girl who's smart, creative, strong, sweet, fluent in Chinese and English, and in every way beautiful. The world needs more of that feminine energy.

This is absolutely heartbreaking! The ignorance of these people is beyond my realm of understanding. It appears that the sole purpose of a woman is to tend to the needs of men and bear them male children. The information Dandelion shared is hopeful. I hope it extends to even more areas of that country soon. My heart goes out to women in China...

Gladly signed and noted.

Noted and siged. I do hope that one day (better soon) the people in those countries such as China and India find and appreciate the happiness of having a girl child. In old days, in Japan, too, baby boys were more anticipated and appreciated than baby girls. But it has changed. It can happen in China. Can happen in India, or any other countries.

It is too bad that social thinking values a male over a female. But this is the way that this 17th century think will go away. These boys will grow up and not find wives. Population control at it's worst.
