The high-stepping gait of horses that wins prizes in the show ring is obtained by torturing horses. It's called "soring"- and it involves whipping, kicking, shocking and using caustic chemicals on the front legs of horses in order to cause pain,

One look at that photo tells you there's nothing natural about this. I dread to think how it's achieved.

Signed, of course. Thanks.

I have noted & signed
Through out history, man has used methods of inhumanity to coax the equine species to break it's natural stride for fame and profit. The Dept. of Agriculture must ban the Walking Horse, trotters, dressage etc...

Thank you Cher

I have icelandic horses and I can say that horses are not treated by most owners with respect rather that they are livestock and sub human..if the human race has to torturing a horse to get some stupid fancy foot work that pleases some mess up judge than then I say do not go to or promote these shows.
It seems that man is so bored that constant entertainment is the thrill of the day and dreaming up new painful ways for animals to entertain us is disgusting......

The HSUS has just completed an investigation into this most vile practice. Watch the video and weep, weep at the abuse, the torture, the cruelty and the torment that these magnificent horses endure. Weep at the low-life sub-humans that inflict this terrible pain unto these noble creatures. I know I wept, and I still cannot comprehend the mentality of these so-called trainers, owners and riders that allow this vile practice to carry on being inflicted on the very same animals that they profess to 'love and cherish'. Where is the enforcement for animal abuse and cruelty? Why aren't these offenders caught and punished? Shame on all involved and those who watch and do nothing.
