As humans retreat to our air-conditioned malls, movie theaters and homes, many pets and wildlife are stuck outside dealing with the most intense heat wave in the country since the 1930s Dust Bowl era when crops wilted and water was a cool commodity.

Thanks Cher. . .the photo speaks so well. We keep emergency supplies of food and water for all animals in household [including humans.] We don't get a lot of intense high temperatures in Western Washington but always assist our canine and feline residents to keep cool when it comes :) Provide cooled filtered water 24/7/365[6] The cat likes to sit close to the fan and initially the dog [a Corgi mix with herding instincts] barks to let cat know it is irregular. then i let canine know it's ok and...actually very smart. Dog then settles into a comfortable space where fan is felt too and cat continues to enjoy fanned breeze as originally intended. We go thru same routine every hot spell. :) Ah...the pleasures of life on earth [feel bad to still be on grid for fans and such...although are using 100% green now [about 3,312 lbs./CO2/year--62,250 lbs. about average in U.S. for household size.]
