horrid. never mind that I'm a horse-lover anyway, the realities of slaughtering horses are absolutely horrifying. Far beyond what most people could call "cruel" or "torture".

First it was the puppy mills, now a horse slaughter plant...I am so ashamed of my own state! Shame on Gov. Jay Nixon for allowing this to happen! Maybe he'll get a clue from what's happening in California, but I doubt he'll care! Noted and shared, thank you very much Cher!

Obama has shown his true colors when it comes to animal rights/welfare toward GODs animals!!! What a ruthless, careless, reckless, pathetic being he is!!! There is no such thing as humane slaughter, the word slaughter alone stands for cruelty! Obama had no business lifting the ban and ordering the execution of these defenselss animals or any other animals for that matter.

Since Obama doesn't think there is anything wrong with this crap, he needs to get some balls, look a horse in the eyes and take that horses life!! Obama is pathetic!!

If you want horse slaughter stopped, write your elected state and federal officials. Write your local newspapers. Email state horse rescue groups. Contact local TV and radio stations.

We gain far more that is priceless and transformational by caring for, learning from and living in harmony with animals than by what is achieved from harming or commoditizing them. Animals teach us to be better humans and help heal us when we're broken.

Just great...another form of mystery meat added to the school menus. I'd rather eat crickets than a horse anyday. Something that has a lifespan of a few months vs something that can live up to 50 years. How many horses are on the planet vs zillions of crickets. Insects will be here long after the last human exhales the last breath. Better to get a head start on the little green gooshy things than someone's unwanted pet pony/

We need to go after those that breed horses to get this stopped. I read that 75% of thoroughbred colts are slaughtered because they aren't good racing horses. We need to shut down horse racing, horse shows and such so breeding horses and throwing them away isn't a way of life for humans. Mitt Romney's wife is involved in showing horses. Imagine how may horse deaths she is responsible for.
